Hurricane Sandy Lesson: Evacuate Dont Stay

Is it me?????

Seems like I recall Hurricane Sandy warnings and mandatory evacuation over a week in advance of the storm touching down.  Caveat: I know that some people didn't have the option to leave.  But many CHOSE to stay. Now they are demanding their power be reconnected.  Its been 3 days. They see the extent of the damage. They chose to ignore evacuation orders and chose to stay.

In what world can they drain all that water and reconfigure the necessary infrastructure to have power on within 48 hours????!!!!  Emotions aside, logic should bring prevail. Desperation I understand. But, under the circumstances,  why are these people so "demanding".  Resources are low and mobility is challenging for everyone - even for FEMA and National Guard.  There is a lot of ground to cover the damage is massive.

The lesson... EVACUATE when you are urged to do so - don't stay. Don't wait it out.
